(If we don’t know who we are fighting, we may end up battling the wrong target. Discover how spiritual warfare works and recognize Satan’s devices.)

What If the Real Battle Is Not the One We Can See?
Have you ever had one of those days when you wake up joyful, grateful, and ready for the day, only for one negative word or one hurtful action from someone to completely change your mood?
A few seconds of offense can stay in our minds for hours.
We replay the words.
We think about the person.
We relive the moment again and again.
But what if, while we are focused on the person we can see, we are completely missing the real battle taking place behind it?
That is a question every Christian should think about.
–The Bible’s Warning About Satan’s Devices

2 Corinthians 2:11 (KJV)
“Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.”
If we don’t know who we are fighting, or who we are supposed to fight, we have already lost the battle before it even begins.
This is one of the greatest devices the devil has used since the beginning.
The devil knows that if we are not careful, we can spend the entire day thinking about the person who hurt us, replaying their words in our minds, and fighting the battle that we can see.
Meanwhile, the spiritual battle that was thrown against us remains untouched because all our attention is fixed on the visible target instead of the spirit behind it.
And that is exactly how we can end up fighting the wrong battle while losing the one we were supposed to fight.
–A Simple Illustration

Think about this.
If a small child insulted us, most of us would not take it too seriously.
Why?
Because we understand that those words may not have truly originated from the child.
We see it as though someone else is speaking through that child because the child likely heard those words from somewhere else.
So instead of focusing only on the child, we look beyond the child.
And that is the same wisdom we need in spiritual battles.
–Learning to See Beyond What We See

When we are hurt, offended, or mistreated, we should not stop at the person.
We should ask God to help us see beyond what happened and recognize the spiritual battle behind it.
The devil wants us occupied with the visible offense.
He wants us replaying the words, reliving the moment, and fighting the wrong target.
Because while we are busy doing that, the spiritual battle remains untouched.
That is why the Bible tells us not to be ignorant of Satan’s devices.
We need the help of the Holy Spirit to see beyond the hurt, beyond the offense, and beyond the people.
We need to learn how to recognize and fight the spiritual battle behind what we see.
Final Thoughts

One of the devil’s greatest devices is to keep us focused on the wrong target.
He knows that if we spend all our energy replaying the offense, thinking about the person, and fighting the battle that we can see, we may completely miss the spiritual battle taking place behind it.
The devil knows that if we are not careful, we can spend the entire day fighting the visible target while the spiritual battle that was thrown against us remains untouched.
That is why the Bible tells us not to be ignorant of Satan’s devices.
As believers, we need God’s wisdom to see beyond the hurt, beyond the offense, and beyond the people.
We need the help of the Holy Spirit to recognize the spiritual battle behind what we see and learn how to fight it God’s way.
Because if we don’t know who we are fighting, or who we are supposed to fight, we have already lost the battle before it even begins.
God bless you.
