(The power of invitation reveals something many people misunderstand about God. Jesus Christ does not force His way into the human heart. Instead, He lovingly knocks, waiting for invitation, relationship, and surrender.)

Why Many People Ask “God, Why Did You Allow This?”
One of the deepest questions many people silently carry in their hearts is this:
“If God is real…
If He is loving…
Then why did He allow my life to become like this?”
Why did He allow the depression?
Why did He allow the addiction?
Why did He allow the pressure, anxiety, broken relationships, and pain?
Why did He allow families to fall apart?
Why did He allow people we love to suffer?
And many times, in the middle of pain, people begin blaming God for what they are going through.
But there is something powerful many people do not fully understand about God:
The power of invitation.
–Revelation 3:20 Reveals the Heart of Jesus

There is a Bible verse that reveals something powerful about the heart of Jesus and the way He approaches humanity.
Revelation chapter 3, verse 20 says:
“Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.”
Notice something powerful in this verse:
Jesus is knocking.
He is not forcing Himself inside.
–Why Doesn’t God Force the Door Open?
Many people may ask:
“If God is loving…
If He sees the pain inside the house…
If He hears the crying…
Then why doesn’t He force the door open and rescue people?”
The answer is powerful:
Because even though He is Almighty God, He still will not violate the freedom of choice He gave humanity when He created us.
And the Bible shows us this clearly.
Deuteronomy chapter 30, verse 19 says:
“I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live.”

Notice something powerful:
God presents the choices…
But He still allows humanity to choose.
That is why Jesus stands at the door knocking instead of forcing His way inside.
He waits for invitation.
–A Parent’s Pain Is a Small Picture of God’s Pain
Imagine you are a parent, and you have a young adult child living in your home.
Almost every night, you hear them crying in their room.
You know something is wrong.
You feel their pain.
You know they are carrying something heavy inside.
So you walk to the door.
You knock.
You ask:
“Are you okay?”
But they keep saying:
“I’m fine.”
“Nothing is wrong.”
Sometimes they may even open the door for a moment and pretend everything is okay.
But deep inside, you know something is hurting them.
And the painful part is this:
You can only help so much if they refuse to let you in.
Not because you do not love them.
Not because you do not care.
But because they are not giving you access to the deeper pain inside them.
And as a parent, you can imagine the pain that would bring to your heart.
Wanting to help…
Knowing they need help…
But not being allowed into the deeper pain inside them.
That is a small picture of the pain Jesus feels watching many people suffer.
–God Already Knows What Is Hurting You
What makes the pain of God even deeper is this:
Unlike human parents, God is not trying to figure out what is wrong.
He already knows.
He sees the hidden pain.
He sees the depression.
He sees the fear.
He sees the anxiety.
He sees the addiction.
He sees the silent battles nobody else sees.
God already knows exactly what is hurting His children.
And many times, while Jesus is standing at the door knocking, people inside are still asking:
“God, where were You?”
“Why did You allow this?”
“Why did You allow my family to suffer like this?”
Without realizing that He has been standing at the door the whole time.
Waiting for invitation.
–The Enemy Fights the Power of Invitation
One of the greatest things the enemy fights is your understanding of invitation.
Because the devil understands something powerful:
The moment Jesus Christ is truly invited into someone’s life, things begin to change.
Healing begins.
Peace begins.
Freedom begins.
Restoration begins.
That is why the enemy works hard to keep people distracted, bitter, offended, prideful, angry, or spiritually asleep.
Anything to stop them from opening the door.
–Jesus Is Still Knocking

And because Jesus is loving, He chooses to stay there knocking instead of walking away.
Even after rejection.
Even after being ignored.
Even after people pretend everything is okay.
He still knocks.
That is the heart of Jesus.
A loving Savior standing patiently outside the door of the human heart.
Maybe today, Jesus is knocking at a door many people have kept closed for years.
Maybe it is the door of fear.
Maybe it is the door of pain.
Maybe it is the door of depression.
Maybe it is the door of disappointment.
Maybe it is the door of addiction.
Maybe it is the door of hidden wounds nobody else knows about.
But whatever room it is…
Jesus is still knocking.
–Open the Door
Today, open the door.
Allow Jesus into those dark rooms inside your heart.
Let Him wash you clean by His blood.
Let Him heal what nobody else sees.
Let Him bring peace where there has been pain.
Let Him bring light into the rooms you have kept closed for too long.
Because He is not standing there to condemn you.
He is standing there because He loves you.
And even now…
He is still knocking.
He just needs your invitation.
